Denzel Burrell 

Vice President 

Denzel is in his eighth year with Arizona State University’s (ASU) Sun Devil Athletics, serving as an Associate Director for Academic and Student Development.

He handles daily academic oversight of several varsity programs, which include: Men’s Track & Field, Wrestling, and Women’s Tennis. His goal is to provide opportunity and development for student-athletes while improving NCAA metrics surrounding graduation, and developing future leaders.

Additionally, he oversees the department budget and has an integral role in summer school funding, which affords ASU athletes the opportunity to pursue education through the summer months.

 

Denzel began his career with ASU as a Graduate Assistant, working in the same office specifically with football and basketball athletes.

Denzel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia (UVA) along with a minor in political science. He has a Master's Degree in Higher Education from Arizona State University. Denzel is a former UVA football player and hails from South Orange, NJ.
